Prometheus, James Watts The artist, Jean Dubuffet coined the term “assemblage” in 1953 to describe any three-dimensional collage composed of found objects. Curators Debby and Larry Kline use the term in a contemporary context, one that extends the format to include room-sized installations which viewers may enter. The exhibition features the work of artists Poupee’ Boccaccio, Irma Sofia Poeter, and James Watts. Each artist creates art imbued with strongly personal histories by combining personal and found objects into artist-made objects. These disparate elements are assembled to offer fresh meanings for viewers. Generaciones, Irma Sofia Poeter The artists and curators will present a Gallery Talk on Thursday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m. that will focus on specific works in the exhibition and the assemblage concept. Admission for the Gallery Talk is $5, OMA members are free. The public is invited to attend.
