Free Family Art Days

Free Family Art Day is a program that provides the community with
educational art experiences. Bring the whole family to this fun-filled free event where children are encouraged to view the artwork featured in the exhibitions and participate in hands-on art activities that reflect concepts and themes from the exhibits.
Every Free Family Art Day includes all necessary materials andis open to the public.

MAKE ART WITH OCEANSIDE MUSEUM OF ART
Bring the family to Oceanside Museum of Art’s Free Family Art Days; May 2nd, August 1st, October 3rd, and December 5th. Children and their families will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on art activities that reflect concepts and themes from the exhibits. On May 2nd kids can make a mixed media collage with magazines, colored papers and found objects inspired by Allison Renshaw’s Plastic Fantastic exhibition. The artist Allison Renshaw will lead a docent tour specifically for kids through her exhibition at 2:00 p.m. August 1st join our Rattle Instrument Workshop and learn how to make a musical instrument out of common objects such as tin cans, sticks, paper towel rolls, and various seeds. Inspired by our Native American exhibition kids can make a Dream Catcher on October 1st out of wood, yarn, shells, beads, feathers and other symbolic objects. Using a variety of fun fabrics and materials inspired from our Quilt Visions exhibition kids can make a unique handmade art quilt ornament on December 5th. No sewing experience is needed. Family Art Day includes all necessary materials and is free to the public.
