Family Art Days
Free
Family Art Day is a program that provides the community with
educational art experiences. Bring the whole family to this fun-filled
free event where children are encouraged to view the artwork featured
in the exhibitions and participate in hands-on art activities that
reflect concepts and themes from the exhibits.
Every Free Family Art Day includes all necessary materials andis
open to the public.
MAKE
ART WITH OCEANSIDE MUSEUM OF ART
Bring the family to Oceanside Museum of Art’s Free Family
Art Days; May 2nd, August 1st, October 3rd, and December 5th. Children
and their families will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on
art activities that reflect concepts and themes from the exhibits.
On May 2nd kids can make a mixed media collage with magazines, colored
papers and found objects inspired by Allison Renshaw’s Plastic
Fantastic exhibition. The artist Allison Renshaw
will lead a docent tour specifically for kids through her exhibition
at 2:00 p.m. August 1st join our Rattle Instrument Workshop and
learn how to make a musical instrument out of common objects such
as tin cans, sticks, paper towel rolls, and various seeds. Inspired
by our Native American exhibition
kids can make a Dream Catcher on October 1st out of wood, yarn,
shells, beads, feathers and other symbolic objects. Using a variety
of fun fabrics and materials inspired from our Quilt
Visions exhibition kids can make a unique handmade
art quilt ornament on December 5th. No sewing experience is needed.
Family Art Day includes all necessary materials and is free to the
public.
